SAO Ep. 13-14 Review

*Warning: This post contains SPOILERS. If you do not want to be spoiled, DO NOT READ THIS POST
....I warned you... O.O*

Hello! I'm so excited to do this review on episode 13, "Edge of Hell's Abyss" and episode 14 "The End of the World" of Sword Art Online! This is because Episode 14 is the end of Season 1!!! >.<
Yeah, it's sad that the anime only has 25 episodes split into two seasons, but then, we get to finish the first season and go off and start the next story! That means new characters (kind of), plots, and settings (...kind of)!!! Plus, new opening and ending songs :3

In Episode 13, Kirito goes fishing and meets Nishida, an elderly man who was trapped in Aincrad because of his work (involved with the network company that runs SAO). They talk (and eat Asuna's homemade soy sauce), and the two decide to work together to catch giant monster fish known to be on the 22nd floor.

Oh my GAWD, just look at his face. The first time I saw it, I was cracking up.

They eventually find the fish, and it takes the bait. However, the fish could actually walk on land, and Asuna defeats the monster. By doing this though, Asuna's identity is revealed (remember, they moved to the 22nd floor for their honeymoon because there weren't a lot of monster or people that could recognize her because she's quite famous, kind of like an idol), and the other residents crowd around her. At this time, Kirito receives a message from Heathcliff to return to the front lines, and Kirito and Asuna say goodbye to Nishida and teleport to Grandum.

I don't know why, but when I looked up this picture (for this review),
I thought that the little barbels looked like a mustache :{

The couple learn that the KoB along with other guilds will be battling the 75th floor's boss after returning to headquarters. Kirito then asks Asuna to stay, but she refuses saying that she'd rather die than live without him.

:3

At the meeting place, Kirito and Asuna meet Klein and Agil, who are also joining the boss battle. When the other KoB top members arrive, everyone is teleported to the boss room. The Skull Reaper, the 75th floor's boss, kills uses its scythes to kill two players instantly. Everyone is in shock and confusion, and the boss attacks again. After a while, the group regains its ranks. Kirito and Asuna blocks a scythe together, Heathcliff blocks the other, and the other players attack the boss.

Doesn't the boss kind of look like it's dancing in this picture XD

Using their strategy, the group eventually defeats the Skull Reaper. All the players are exhausted and Klein says that 14 players died. The others start to doubt on whether they would ever reach the 100th floor. At this time, Kirito sees Heathcliff, who doesn't even look the least bit tired. He recalls the rumor of how Heathcliff's HP had never dropped below the yellow zone (Hmm...Did I ever say that in the previous reviews? I think I forgot. Well, anyways, that's true) and how he had moved at an impossible speed during their duel.
Kirito then attack Heathcliff, and before he could block, a purple shield appears, with the words "Immortal Object". The other players are confused, and Kirito states that Heathcliff was in fact Kayaba Akihiko, creator of SAO.
Heathcliff admits that what Kirito said was true, and a KoB player attacks him out of anger. Before he actually lands a blow though, Heathcliff/Kayaba paralyzes everyone but Kirito. He says that by discovering his true identity, he will give Kirito a chance of a duel (without the immortal status of course). If he defeats him, Kirito will beat the game and free all the SAO players. If he loses, he dies, and the others will have to beat the game by reaching the 100th floor.
Asuna, Klein, and Agil, tell Kirito not to fight, but he instead tells them that he will win. Before the duel, Kirito asks Heathcliff to prevent Asuna from committing suicide if he loses, to which he agrees.

The two begin an intense fight of extreme speed. Knowing that Heathcliff/Kayaba created the Sword Skills, Kirito tries to win using his own skills, but he loses focus and Heathcliff finds an opening. Heathcliff blocks Kirito's Dark Repulser  breaking it with his shield, and attacks Kirito. At this moment, Asuna jumps in between them, sacrificing herself to protect Kirito. (Heathcliff is surprised to see that she neutralized the paralysis by herself.)

NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!??????????
DDDDAAAAAAMMMMMNNNNNN YYYYYOOOOUUUUUUUUU HEEAAAATTHHHHCCLLLIIIIIFFFF!!!!!!!!

Kirito is shocked at her death and swings his sword at Heathcliff, using no energy. Heathcliff deflect and sends Kirito's Elucidator flying and stabs Kirito (*gasp!*). Kirito's HP falls to zero, and he sees the words "You are dead" in bright red in front of him. He starts glowing and unable to accept his death before defeating Heathcliff, Kirito stabs Heathcliff, killing him.

Kirito's so shiny!!!! :D

Kirito wakes up on an invisible platform in the sky. He sees Asuna, and the two hug each other (did they also kiss?...I forgot -.-) They see Aincrad falling apart below them, and Kayaba Akihiko suddenly appears.

The next scene can pretty much be summarized by this picture:
No, I'm serious. This is pretty much what happened. o.o

Anyways, Kayaba disappears, and Kirito and Asuna exchange their real names and ages. Kirito is Kirigaya Kazuto (get it? Kirigaya Kazuto? I seriously did not find that out until shortly before I read about it in the light novels -.-) and 16 years old, and Asuna is Yuuki Asuna at 17 years old. The kiss and disappear.

These two pictures kind of go together, so here they are :\

Kirito wakes up, this time in the hospital in the real word (:D). Remembering Asuna, he takes off his Nerve Gear and walks through the hospital hallways to find her :')

I have three things to say.
1) In Episode 13, there were a bunch of weird faces that Nishida and Kirito made that kept cracking me up.
2) Kirito still has this pissed off look on his face when he fights.
3) Episode 14 was really sad, but it also made me really happy (kind of hard to explain).
I was crying during the last moments Kirito and Asuna spent in SAO. It's just so sad!!! :'(
...but then I found out he was still alive so... >.>
Anyways.
Kirito finally woke up and beat the game! He's a hero!!!!! XD YAYZ!!!

This is a really good ending for Season 1, and I absolutely liked it!
So, next time, my review will be on Episode 15, the first episode of Season 2 of SAO!!! I hope you will join me ^^
Bye! :D
